If the below is true it is disastrous. Gloucestershire has became a very bad place to life the NHS (National Health Service) should not be having to make cuts!

Questions

How was the local health trust allowed to get this into debt that they have to do this?

what is going to be done to minmise problems?

Why did national government not step in? - is it cause other Health Trusts are in similar siteration

This is all due to the current admistration - Blame Blair and all his Health 'policies' and the unproven war wasting Money!

any faltalities the government and the local health trust admin is to blame! .

The Problem is that other health trusts this could happen to - and government should concentrating it DO NOT Happen again

Nine hospitals, two maternity units, 500 jobs and 240 beds face the axe in the most devastating swathe of NHS cuts to hit Gloucestershire.

Health chiefs face a funding blackhole of £40 million - and have been told to balance their books within this financial year. Yesterday they announced cuts across the board - and said they weren't open to consultation.

Some 240 of the county's 1,600 hospital beds will close.

Delancey Hospital in Leckhampton will shut. The first ward will close this summer. Many of its patients are likely to be treated at home or in the private sector.

Cheltenham General's maternity unit will close and all obstetrics will move to Gloucestershire Royal in Gloucester.

A nurse-led unit at Battledown children's ward will not go ahead.

The A &E department at Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal will come under review as the NHS looks at pooling resources with the GP out-of-hours service.

Winchcombe Hospital will close and more services will be provided at Tewkesbury.

Cinderford's Dilke Hospital will shut, and when the Forest of Dean's other hospital at Lydney goes, it will be replaced by a new 'health campus'.

Stroud's maternity hospital will close to inpatients.

Berkeley Hospital will close eventually, along with Dursley's Sandpits Clinic. They will be replaced with a new health centre in Dursley.

Plans are in hand to move inpatient services for elderly people with mental health problems at Holly House in Gloucester, Stroud's Weavers Croft and Colliers Court in Cinderford to another site.

The ambulance station at Newent will close.

Health chiefs say the cuts will make treatment more efficient and effective.

It is hoped most of the 500 NHS jobs will be saved through natural wastage and a recruitment freeze but redundancies are an option.

The four chief executives, Paul Lilley, from the Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust, Caroline Fowles, from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury PCT, Richard James from Cotswold and Vale PCT and Stephen Golledge, from West Gloucestershire, announced the further cuts yesterday at the West Gloucestershire HQ at the Highnam Business Centre, Gloucester.

When asked if he felt guilty about the wide cuts, Mr Golledge said: "I feel concerned that we're having to address the problem quickly but it's been made very clear to us that the NHS in Gloucestershire and beyond needs to balance its books and get on with it.

"We need to take radical decisions to ensure we have services in place fit for the 21st century."

Industrial action was not ruled out by Peter Robbins, chairman of the committee which represents eight unions in the county's two main hospitals.

He said: "I've never been an advocate of striking in the health service because it affects the patients.

"But I can't rule out some sort of action. We have already talked about a protest march."

Labour party members blamed the situation on local mismanagement while the Conservatives jumped on Gloucestershire's raw deal in funding.

In a joint statement, the primary care trusts and hospital chief executives said: "We are very proud of the services we offer to patients.

"However, we still need to make savings and ensure that we live within our means. To do this we need to speed up our plans to change services if we are to meet the needs of patients in the future."

Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood, said: "The closure of the maternity unit would strike at the heart of our town.

"Without it, there will be no more Cheltonians, in the old-fashioned sense of the word, because almost no one will be born in the town.

"Instead, people will have to face a dangerous extension in drive time, during a stressful period, through an unfamiliar urban landscape in Gloucester city."

Gloucestershire's Tory MPs Geoffrey Clifton-Brown for Cotswold, Mark Harper for Forest of Dean and Laurence Robertson for Tewkesbury have written a letter to the Health Secretary raising their 'grave' concerns, and requesting an urgent meeting.

They have also tabled a series of parliamentary questions.

Mr Robertson said: "We should be advancing in health provision not regressing. We are paying far more tax and getting fewer services."

Mr Clifton-Brown said: "The people of Gloucestershire, and the elderly in particular, will undoubtedly be the first to suffer as a result of the incompetence of the Department of Health, and the financial mismanagement of our NHS."

An emergency meeting of Gloucestershire County Council is being called to discuss the cuts.

The health scrutiny committee will discuss them today.

An emergency meeting of all councillors will follow as soon as it can be arranged.

The council passed a motion condemning the £70 million gap in government funding that Gloucestershire is facing.

Speaking at the meeting yesterday, chairman of the council's health scrutiny committee, Coun Andrew Gravells (C Abbey), said: "I don't do this job to watch yet another nail put into the coffin of the NHS.

"The people of Gloucestershire deserve more."

Talking about Windows Media Player 11: "Early 2006"

I wrote a blog back nearly a year ago about Windows Media Player 11 when they changed the code name to aurora and said it was announced it be launched early 2006. Last day of April 2006 and still not here like Windows Vista being put back to Janurary 2007 deadlines are never set in stone. Windows Media Player 11 has been rather quiet although there has been announced a Windows Media Player 11 is coming to windows XP and this should be mid year (end of Q2) - hopefully this time they whould be correct.

Personally i do not see the point of changing the time twice yearly cause the time is adujsted foreward then back again - i done this 44 times in my 22 years - by now its in my head you going to get a hour less sleep but i just wake up 1 hour later - no lost. same when the time is adjusted back i wake up early - it takes a few days to adjust. Also its all satellite or computer based except my watch and that takes about 1 minute to adjust.

My TeleVideo and DTT Reciever use signals to get the time - its also how PDC form of Video Plus and in Satellite Cable and Digital TV how the TV Listings on there EPG guide works. i have not got expensive stuff either. My PC is Syncronised with a time server once a week - these days i have to do hardly anything but was more a tease when i was younger.

Sunday will be 23 hours today for those who having DST added (UK is one of these) and 25 hours for those who having DST removed (New Zealand - my typical example Australia has been moved to next week due to an sports event).

The Strike - 'Rumors' - some of them is me stiring up

Here are some rumors going around

Some lectures are still going ahead dispite NUS and the SU insisting there is none (one local student club) said it was going to be one long weekend for those without lectures on Mondays - I have lectures on Monday so it was not one long weekend for me mate.

There is rumors going around that many students aint going to go to there students lectures on tuesday (even if its not been confirmed cancelled on http://www.glos.ac.uk/uog/index.cfm?BA23B76C-BCD4-2A03-959C-FA66B3BDD135 (the list)

Update: my department has now disclosed who going to strike and when alternative modules runs are - so students aint disadvantage however thouse modules with only 1 RUN like me thats on Tuesday have not been told if ours been cancelled (there aint any day this week that could be alternative for us on our course).

Rumor: not all HE union staff members from the unions calling the strike is striking. Barry Lawson (he did say he apart of NATFHE but would strike if he wants) - my lecturer on Tuesday's was deciding with what he wanted to do but did say that union members in university departments might be universal to a common consenus and go with the the majority

Rumor: sounds like some lecturer's have broke ranks with the fellow union members (those members whould be so disappointed of you .

Talking about University to change passwords early

Yep my uni password expired and has been changed not giving hints but its not much different and is still a strong password according to the University's Password checker - sometimes it feel might be a password logger lol but its not. 90 days or whenever to our next forced password change around Easter me feels!

Talking about Web2Messenger down again

Web2Messenger - yet its still down and its day 9! - i don't think its came back for more then a few hours since its security breach on November 30th - Computer Security Day. They must be having some real problems with there servers . I starting to think if it going to return have had to result having my email address back on my space as Web2Messenger my prefered Blog/ Website - IM (MSN/ Windows Live Messenger) has been down. Just hopes the spam crawlers do not get to it first Windows Live Mail + web2Messenger and only upto 10 spam messages a day was over 20 before i had it . if my yahoo account is to go by i get 100-160 spam mail in bulk half weekly and they say MSN is a spam recieving service . my yahoo and MSN account shows otherwise .

There is some good news though Neowin is back online but while it was down i increased my news research sites which now include

betanews.com

cnet.com

neowin.net

mess.be

and Windows Live Blogs - for those who wondered where i get my info from - i got them bookmarked but i used ideas.live.com view blog link(s) as a guide and worked outwards - i was even tipped of of Windows Live Local by the team at virtual earth before the above sites

Web2Messenger down again

Web2Messenger has been having not such a good week with Wednesday (which was Computer Security Day) - one of the worse days for it to be down. Web2Messenger was closed down after having its forums and site compromised. The site however came back that evening allowing its forum users and users of the web2messenger messaging service to recieve messages. The good news was short lived with the site being down again the morning after for what the site said for some other reason like wednesday the site came back online later in the day. Today Friday now the upgrading the servers and hope to be back over the weekend. ever since Wednesday breach the dynamic MSN status images have been out of action whenever its back i sure they want to put this week behind them.

Web2Messenger is not the only site having some problems Neowin.net still having problems with its news pages although the forum and new blog service is been up and running since late wednesday - only today for those who did not know that neowin.net/forum was avaiable and up. i find out most of my news from neowin and cnet.com

With a microscope, fine scratches in the roll surface have been found to be replicated on the calendered paper. This is contradictory to the assumption of a relative movement between the roll and the paper surface.

Update of my space

I spent some time this late afternoon on my space. i added my friends spaces from none msn spaces and any friends msn spaces (not up before) and Bebo profiles. i also removed the old schedule and placed links to my Bebo profile and my myspace.com space.. i also talked to Clair, Linda, Jen, Vicky W, Sophie R.and Missy they all seem well wish sophie the best with her essay and hope to see her soon. only Jen and Clair has a MSN space. the spaces thats are MSN Spaces (which are new) have not been tested outside MSN so hopefully none is not public. For any bebo Bebo users can only see a friends contact details if they are that persons friend so those people with Bebo profiles don't worry. myspace.com users also need to be friends of people to leave comments and see photo gallarys and do do all the functions of the site.

great news the schedule from today is no more this is because of uni from today opening from 6:30am-2am every day. although my pc not back let its hoped to be back before xmas .

1 This Schedule is to expire from 7pm on Friday yey! cause my PC is due back Thursday and Friday at the latest. also the university have gave Monday as 24hr access to the ICT Suites so both good things have came. finally assuming they do not delay either one. why 7pm Friday cause until 4pm on Friday this schedule but between 4pm-7pm i be away reactivating Windows XP, reinstalling MSN but it would be 7.5 at first (the first time using it) and Microsoft Office 2003 and applying all updates and other required software like Flash, and Adobe Acrobat. all this would take some time. if i aint online by 7pm (fri) i be on as soon as possible.

Also 4pm - 9:30pm** possible mixed with studying - Lecture 12pm - 4pm

Wednesday: Studying and online various times from 11am- 8pm (Opening times are 9am - 9pm).

Thursday aka hate day 9am - 1pm (lecture) 1pm - 5pm leisure time and 5pm - 8:30pm lecture. *** its unlikely i be online after my 8:30 lecture  (Opening times are 9am- 9pm)

Friday: some studying (3-4 hrs) from 10am - 2pm then fun to 8pm   (Opening times are 9am - 8pm)

**** cause of some ICT Staff thats very egar to get home and closes earlier

The ICT Suite should to be open more . use some of the campus security i may add that have a easy night shift .

Jen,this is a example of blog it on your blog. Congratalations on your first blog. happy birthday for next wednesday i hope yotu have a great birthday. MSN has you as 15 at the moment which is a little strange maybe they ahead alittle. you thinking of leaving and not returning to Skye (your home) think about that decision carefully as away from home whould be different. jen does know some celebrities :) and what i have heard so far contradicts Jen not liking Skye cause i not heard her say nothing wrong about it apart from its cold.

Today i travelled 200+ miles from Bristol to Grimsby, Lincolnshire (UK) to meet my favorate MSN Contact Aurora who until today have not seen in person. Aurora who firstly i started talking to in November on Lycos Chat is one of the nicest people i met. She very kind and we get on well. Firstly i thought she was nice and thats been proven. usually ii like to keep my online friends online as people thats online might not be the same person and be different offline.

It has been 10 months since start getting to know her and that is quite long beening friends and not meeting up. cause of both being students and the distance its been upto now not met.

in the ten months i became very fond of Aurora and do like her in a love way. she very sweet and caring and both get on. only distance is a problem. Aurora is my type of friend.

Summer Vacation is the best time to meet up but in future - hope to meet up with her more often. if our first meet goes successful hope we meet up more.

Aurora parents hospitality is really nice. rather accomodating. As today was mainly transporting here and Monday will be the same tomorrow would be more time we can both be good friends.

Words to Aurora: Aurora you are lovely please do not change - hope we can both be great mates. love you Aurora lots.

forgot to say i signed that form i mentioned. i did look to see what it says. this event put back me collecting the hired stuff although they do now have the clothes arrived and i can collect it i may get that tomorrow morning

It just been announced by my field chair that the exam retake (on thursday) i was placed down due to a adminstrative error with only being told on Monday i been placed in it instead of having august orginally. The retake now been scheduled for august and I has been excluded from that exam with an high priority memo to Corperate Services that my Student Records would be updated asap. and i have to sign something to say i happy. I got to sign that before 6pm

Talking about Long Awaited Update - 3rd time Lucky?

I wrote the below last Thursday. The Update arrived there is a need for a 4.3 update or more cause there are bugs but hope sometime in May or June Vestel would fix these but i must retract the statement in what i wrote about the update being stable cause it is not really the box at times has a mind of its own and Aurora and Mark know. l like what this quote on the digital spy forums said - made me laugh

'as long as Vestel does a update we have to put up with <removed 4 letter s word> and have to suffer problems. we never get a <removed f word>ing stable update as long as Vestel does it'

Poor Vestel, they only human though they had a big bashing with 4.2a (attempt 1) also

Those like me that use Goodmans software for the GDB 3 and GDB 4 for watching DTT (Digital Terrestial Television) Freeview is included on the DTT Service. My Box was updated with the update made by Vestel would know that after 3 attempts we been finally given a update that actually works and stable. 3rd time lucky

This update name '4.2' was initally due at xmas week but was pulled really late as 4.1 they did however launch a 4.1 to some people but it was just bug fixes although most were stuck on 4.0 or below.

Last Month it was pulled again midweek during an OAD (over air download) transmission of the current 4.2 service cause it was faulty and nobody was recieving it.

But good news 10am Thurs April 21st version 4.2 (or could be called 4.2b or something cause its just repairs to the update bug thats makes it different to the attempt last month) actually launched .

its took a while i was playing with the update that allowed 7 Day EPG no more need to buy an TV Guide although as its all new might be best though for a bit of time also MSN Spaces have been tempermental tonight

BPI haters enjoy . going to have my BPI rant now!. How i love BPI . totally hate them really. do they do anything good? - 'doubt it'. They going to sue 34 more poor UK people and like they are rich - money robbing thiefs they are i not want to be any of those poor people and its possible like they rather young as well. BPI are the the ones that rip us off and there artists. BPI like the RIAA think they gods gift how they not Totally agree legal downloading sites need to take notice currently. Itunes what can i say treat UK people differently compared to the rest of the world and the EU - get sued its unfair cause we pay more for everything. some MP3 players i read do not like WMA encoded files and Legal stores do not say nor the MP3 Player manufactuers.

£7.99 for a download album and its like £8.99 for the CD a CD Case and packaging. also the sound quality tends to be better. Downloads to be price in the US or EU. the US its only 99c max (~50p per track unfair like its 69-99p here) how many more tracks can they get more when you build it up

THis article encourages illegal downloading. go BBC - BBC people entered the dark side.

BBC please have a BBC Service for downloads when either its free (paid in the TV Licence Fee or like 10-30p and no more then £4 for albums - i can dream though. - BBC and BPI think about that idea please you less likely get illegal downloads and would have a better image also going after kids and there parents is just sad
