i been keeping most people in the dark regarding the invite i got - i was accepted - into the December 12th Beta Pool.

When ever i get invites first picks will go to my Windows Live Contacts however as i friendly i give away spare invites to people

Neowin.net also has a request thread here for those who like to test it at time of writing its 209 replies no one to my knowledge yet got any invites to give away

Good News - Offically Revealled

Some people on my contact list have seen my msn name and asked why i have happy news.

The current Schedule is to expire from 7pm on Friday yey! cause my PC is due back Thursday and Friday at the latest. also the university have gave Monday as 24hr access to the ICT Suites so both good things have came. finally assuming they do not delay either one. why 7pm Friday cause until 4pm on Friday this schedule but between 4pm-7pm i be away reactivating Windows XP, reinstalling MSN but it would be 7.5 at first (the first time using it) and Microsoft Office 2003 and applying all updates and other required software like Flash, and Adobe Acrobat. all this would take some time. if i aint online by 7pm (fri) i be on as soon as possible.

More news is tomorrow Thursday going to be the worse day of the week - i have a assignment due, also there is 6 hours timetabled and i donating blood as well. tomorrow going to be rather stressful and they say be not stressed.

The IM me from Blog/ Personal site facility is to stay perminantly however no one has used it tome let does no one want to talk to me .

Be aware that applying for a BETA-tester position entails more than just test driving the new Messenger before your friends and foes. First of all, you'll have to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) under which you'll agree to not disclose any information related to the BETA outside of the MSN BETA program community. Next to normal daily use, you will also have to carry out provided testing scenarios and immediately submit bugs along with as much details as possible.

If the page does work, and you are selected as a participant, you will be sent a "Welcome" e-mail with info on how to proceed and download the software.

Windows Live Messenger 1.0 BETA i was told it be Windows Live Messenger 8.0 . i wonder how long this time this page would stay be fun to see if it works . I know all about NDA's - not allowed to - do you have to physically have to sign a piece of paper and send it to Microsoft UK or US .

Mike McCoy posted some information regarding the upcoming Messenger 8 beta (Windows Live Messenger) on the Microsoft connect newsgroups:

Has the beta started yet? No. Currently we are in a phase of MSFT internal testing. There are a handful of people outside MSFT, such as MVP's, who are also participating in this testing but their numbers are very small (less than 100).

When will the beta start? I can't give out a firm date yet but it should be sometime next month.

How do I sign up? If you were part of the 7.5 beta you will get invited to participate in the beta.

Have you seen that it leaked? Yes we have. In fact we put it on download.microsoft.com. We did this because we realized after the 7.5 beta that even if we restrict the download, people still host the bits on their own download sites and it leaks anyway. Instead, we are attempting to control leaks through sign-in authorization. We also saw that the sign-in restriction has been hacked. However, the result is a version that is not fully functional. Plus, if you install and run these hacks you are exposing yourself to spyware and viruses for a version of Messenger 8 that is not even fully functional. My advice is to be patient and wait for your beta invite.

Anything else new with this beta? Yes, we have two different types of betas: Managed and Closed. The Managed beta is like our traditional betas. Participants will go to Connect, file bugs and participate in restricted newsgroups. For Closed betas, participants will have the ability to download and use the software and participate in public forums. The Managed beta will be limited by what country you are in so even though you participated in the 7.5 Managed beta you may only be eligible for the Closed beta if you are not in a Managed beta country.

Which countries are Managed and which are Closed? Unfortunately, I can't say at this time.

US is one of the managed ones i feel - hope the UK is as well although Windows Live Mail/ MSN Hotmail has me as US - ET - get New York weather and news all the time in MSN 7.0

A judge would've started banging his gavel, "Order! Order!" because the entire
saucer-eyed, slack-jawed team erupted in murmurs and exclamations. I personally
clapped my hands and bounced up and down like a two-year-old. "I can't WAIT to
blog this!" (yeah, that's right - I have a one-track mind). I didn't know why or how
or what it all meant, except that I'd have to get new business cards. Actually -
I like my business cards, they're all multicolored with the adorable little flapping

They looked at me the same way my parents did when my childhood dog, Minx,
got cancer. So, no more butterfly for Messenger. I'm still excited about the change
to Windows Live, but I am gonna miss that little guy. Sniff.

Since the internal announcement, I've learned that this name change actually is a
lot bigger than a juicy blog post and the canning of a defenseless Lepidoptera (look
it up, I did) on Messenger.

MSN will morph into two brands, Windows Live and MSN.
After a few successful years, the creators of the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer
split the cast and concept in half and created a new and almost equally successful
show, Angel. Buffy focused on the human experience, while Angel catered to the
sci-fi-action-loving crowd. Think of MSN like Buffy and Windows Live like the Angel
spin-off: same people and same missions, but divided in the interest of better focus.
MSN now means content, like MSN.com and MSNBC. While Windows Live means
services like Live.com, Mail, and of course, Instant Messaging.

MSN Messenger 7.5 is the last version of the IM client that will wear the
MSN brand. The next one will wear Windows Live.
In some ways this announcement could be misinterpreted as just a Prince-esque
or Puff Daddy name change: I mean, look at it from our perspective: one day,
halfway through upgrading MSN Messenger 7.5 to MSN Messenger 8.0 we're told
to keep doing what we're doing, just be aware it'll be called Windows Live
Messenger instead of MSN Messenger 8.0. When it's ready you, as users, will
download Windows Live Messenger just like you would've downloaded MSN
Messenger 8.0,
had there been one. You will sign in with the same ID and see your buddies, and
have the ability to IM anyone whether they're running the old MSN Messenger or
the new Windows Live Messenger. You will have all the old features you're used
to, plus the awesome new ones that we were building for Windows Live Messenger.
(ha, that reads like I was trying to hypnotize you, but I know I don't have to, you
WILL do all these things ;-). Ok, I will, anyway :-).

But like a "John" who changes his name to "Jane", this is more than just
a name change.  To see major implication, you have to know that the name change
is just a first step. As the services pull away from MSN content to live together under
a new brand, we're also pulling closer together under one mission: To unite the
online experience If that sounds like a line PR fed us, you're probably right - but I
don't mind saying it because I believe the product teams fed it to PR first. We're
computer users too, and the idea of being able to access a lot more features from
a lot more places, to switch from Messenger to Search to Mail and have everything
look and work the same way, excites us. Take the new Unified Contacts in Windows
Live Messenger as an example.
How much do you hate storing a different and disjoint list of contacts all over the place,
in Messenger, in your address book, in your phone, and when information changes in
one place, it's outdated in all the others. Imagine how great it will be when we're going
to be able to keep all of your contacts in one place so that when you're using different services you can access this list in the same straightforward way. Imagine if someone consolidated life this way! Every time I leave my house, I go through a mental list: Phone? Keys? Wallet? Camera?
MP3 Player? Gum? I would love for someone to consolidate these items for me.

Final Thoughts (for now) :

- Windows Live Messenger is not out yet - but I can promise that as soon as it is,
we'll let you know. Keep using MSN Messenger. We worked hard on it!

- Windows Live Messenger and MSN Messenger will not be two separate clients
in the sense that you cannot have them both on your computer at once. It's one
or the other, just like MSN Messenger 7.0 and MSN Messenger 7.5

- If you're scared that MSN Messenger is ending, don't be. This is not the end of
MSN Messenger, but a Metamorphosis. Come with us on this journey, it will be
worth it. (Oh sad, metamorphosis makes me think of butterflies. Sniff)

- I'm embarrassed to even have to talk about this, but for now, it's still an issue:
Windows Live Messenger and Windows Messenger are still not the same thing.
Just pick the one you like to use, and close the other one up, you're not meant
to run them both, one is just a bigger brighter flashier version of the other.

This tool is meant for MSN users experiencing problems with corrupted lists; primarily, when others are unable to see your true online status, or when you get numerous "Add Contact" requests upon signing into your account with MSN Messenger. Recently MSN adjusted its servers to limit the size of "Allow Lists", to help prevent MSN Bots. The down side to this is that, messenger users who add/delete users fairly often can easily reach these limits themselves. The result is a corrupted list, with various chaotic problems. If you are experiencing these issues, we suggest you use this tool. This tool will also help to make logging in faster, as there will be less "junk" data needed to be sent to your MSN Messenger client from the MSN servers

Gets rid of junk data in the sign in process
MSN locking up - could help free that

Fixes if you Getting a message that your contact list is corrupted
People you deleted and they deleted you are removed -Speeds up log in

Disadvantages:

May unblock some contacts
May delete contacts that you requested but have not accepted you for 2 factors not been online or do not want to chat (and not accepted you)

With up 600 contacts and with each contact slowing your sign in process. A 600 person Contact list is going to take about 600 times longer to sign in then if you had 1 person.

so thats why my sisters msn is faster with 10 contacts and i have 204!

MSN Messenger 7.5.0311 Released

MSN Messenger 7.5 has been updated to 7.5.0311. According to Leah's Blog 7.5.0311 has 2 bug fixes for 7.5 regarding Connectivity and French Version SMS issues.

Like other 7.5 versions this version is unable to work with Windows 2000 and below. If you have Windows 2000 or below you would have to use 7.0.0816. Personally i feel if there was bugs in 7.5 that applies in 7.0. 7.0 should be updated as well.

I going to have to wait to November to use this version as my Windows XP PC being repaired. But 7.0.0816 whould do on this Windows 2000 university PC to then . so i will be on MSN

Hotmail Beta

Just checked my hotmail and i been invited to take part in Hotmail Beta . First Impressions i like it. the today page needs to be abit better but it is in development maybe weather or news. Do like preview mail but if you choose to see 1 email entilely its differcult to get back to preview again.

I do like the none need to install software to attach files particularly photos. personally i think its better without the tool. Also allows people in places where you not allowed to install software to send attachments something that might be a downside to hotmail and people going to rival email companies.

In my opinion the same should happen on MSN spaces (in regards to software to upload images), what whould be nice with MSN Spaces would be the ability to attach pictures in the same way if they were on a website and your pc and more themes preferablely customable.

MSN doubles contact list size to 600

For the second time this year, MSN has doubled the maximum number of people again you can add to your contact list. In March 2005, the 150 limit on the Allow list was lifted upto 300 . And as of recently you can currently add a grand total of 600 adresses to your contact list.

*Thinks* What can i do with these new addresses maybe add my Yahoo IM Contacts to my 208 contacts

There is no need to update your version of MSN Messenger - so is compatable with Web Messenger, Version 6.2, Version 7 and 7.5 . I guessing pre version 6.2 will now have 600 as well . DO be reminded that the size of your contact list often affects the length of the sign-in process.

Talking about Friday the 13th Cursed?

Update: at 11pm last night Windows Update also went messed up it was a Microsoft own fault however they dispatched a faulty update in April and the May update (to fix it) did not install automatically and had to be patched manually using the microsoft security newsgroups help who had to trick the Windows registry - i might be a Computing Student (Computing with American Studies) but playing with the registry aint that good one mistake and it could be time for a new PC

Like last Thursday got a message from Galaxy FM saying i close to winning - they said that last week lol - they altered the time cause last week it was 12 noon and this week is 11am. its the last draw - want it to be every week

Quick Fix Engineering (QFE) to be launched on MSN

The MSN Messenger development team are working on a QFE (or "hotfix") patch to the current build of MSN Messenger (7.0.0777). Quick Fix Engineering (QFE), which upgrades you to 7.0.0813 (has bug fixes and other improvements like to sign in process is supposely to make it quicker) through a small patch file ideal for dialup connections. Instead of a 7mb setup file like previous updates. In the past there have been complaints by many dialup connection users to download entire versions (7mb files) just to upgrade as there connections time out after 2hrs a reason some people do not want Windows XP SP2 via Windows Update but theres CD's available.

THe distrubution of QFE's is let unknown but maybe MSN Messenger updates will be delivered through Windows Update http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com which i recommend every Windows User to use or, the upcoming Microsoft Update service (Currently in Beta) in the future.

The QFE patch to 7.0.0777 is expected to be released to the public soon , after it's been thoroughly tested. Unless someone who is a beta tester leaks it Not tempting fate cause some Beta Tester whould its known is likely to and it might not get fully tested

Microsoft has created a new standard Passport domain: messengeruser.com.

In addition to hotmail.com and the region varations like hotmail.co.uk. There has been msn.com addresses for subscribers but now there a new one to the family . People may not be awares also a 2nd new email address. that MSN Spaces secretly give you an @spaces.msn.com if you in settings you enable email publishing. you can register a Passport with this messengeruser.com domain and use it to sign into MSN Messenger!

Virus creators have found a way get around the security procedure that blocks file extensions like the dredged .pif thats in 7.0.0777 - 'here we go again nooo!!!'.

Be awares that it creates messages similar to "Look its you" followed by a link which in a new format The link be similar to below.
